Rihanna’s ‘Talk That Talk’ In Review - Written By Jamesson Marshall

by Jamesson Marshall on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 2:02am

Proving a good girl can mix business with pleasure, Rihanna balances the pop culture tightrope between provocative club bangers and radio-friendly pop staples on her latest disc, ‘Talk That Talk.’

Opening with the #1 Smash, “We Found Love,” you know you’re in for a fun-filled ride from the jump-off. Calvin Harris’ club beat bops along as Rihanna croons about adrenaline fueled dancefloor romance and glitter-blasted nights.

Keeping up the pace is “Where Have You Been,” an Electrostep Anthem with roaring vocals and a pulse racing beat.

Roc-a-Fella Mentor Jay-Z guests on “Talk That Talk,” which along with raunchy interlude “Birthday Cake,” could make your mama blush and your bff’s break it down on the stripper pole.

Rihanna plays with gender roles and kinky flirtation on the Vanity 6-esque “Red Lipstick” and dares to ask for what she wants in the pure hip hop track, “Cockiness (Love It).”

But it’s not all naughty, as Rihanna reveals a softer side in lovelorn ballads “Drunk On Love,” “We All Want Love” and the bouncy second single, “You Da One.”

Rounding out the top tracks on the album are the 80s throwback pop jams “Roc Me Out” and “Do Your Thang.”

Proving she’s full grown and in total control, ‘Talk Your Talk’ should solidify that Rihanna’s reign at the top of the charts through 2012.
